Dear Churchill Families,
As you know, Churchill experienced a difficult week. While I am very limited in what I can disclose, I do want to acknowledge the situation and recognize the incredible work of our safety team and staff. Because of their swift and professional actions, lives were saved. I am deeply proud of the people we work with each day, and I am profoundly grateful that, in the end, everyone is safe.
Events like this can bring a rollercoaster of emotions for both students and staff. It is normal for individuals to process situations differently, and we want our students and families to know that support is available. If your child needs support, our school counseling team can provide resources to help them navigate their feelings.
While we reflect on the week behind us, we are also looking forward to the many ways our students are shining. This past Wednesday, our Unified Basketball game was a fantastic display of spirit and inclusion—a true highlight for our community!
This week, we celebrate Valentine’s Spirit Week. We’ll have daily themes leading up to the Winter Formal (Sweethearts) Dance on Saturday night. Additionally, auditions for our spring musical, Urinetown, begin Tuesday. We can't wait to see the talent our students bring to the stage.
In honor of Black History Month, we will be hosting a Black Lives Matter display starting later this week and continuing through the end of February. This is an opportunity for our community to engage with important history and contemporary dialogue. Many classes will visit the display together. Students who prefer not to attend will have a designated, supervised space to focus on their classwork.
For parents and guardians, I want to emphasize the importance of ongoing conversations with your children. Staying connected, knowing what is happening in their lives, and continuing to guide them through their teenage years is essential. Sometimes we may think certain conversations are unnecessary because “my child wouldn’t do that.” The reality is that we can never fully know what our children are navigating internally or externally. Having open, honest conversations that teach, guide, and reinforce values is vitally important at this stage of their development.
Thank you for your partnership, your trust, and your continued support of our school community. I hope each of you is able to have a weekend filled with moments of rest and joy.
Sincerely,
Kevin Rodemack

Dear Churchill Families,
We are incredibly fortunate to partner with Lane Transit District (LTD) to provide bus passes for our students. This program is a vital resource that helps our students get to school and participate in school-related activities.
To ensure this program remains funded and available for years to come, we must follow strict usage guidelines:
-
Students Only: Student bus passes are strictly for the use of the student to whom they were issued.
-
Non-Transferable: Passes may not be shared with friends, siblings, or adults.
-
Visual Identification: Please be aware that drivers can easily distinguish between Youth and Adult passes. Adults attempting to use student passes may be denied boarding.
Need an Adult Pass? If an adult in your household is in need of transit assistance, please reach out to LTD directly. They can provide a list of local organizations and agencies that offer adult bus passes or day-use tickets for those with limited income.
Thank you for helping us keep this program running by using your passes responsibly!

Our community is rich with resources and skilled, compassionate providers. Our hope is that this guide will be a support to families as they navigate systems and access services. At this time, Relief Nursery is not able to translate the entire Resource Guide into Spanish, though we recognize the need and hope to pursue that project in the future. The Resource Guide includes some Spanish language translation, particularly in the areas that specifically focus on serving Hispanic and Latino clients, English as a Second Language classes, and Immigration and Migrant services.
