Churchill High School Weekly Newsletter

May 9, 2025
Family Bulletin header with red text, a newspaper titled 'NEWS,' and a pair of black-framed glasses resting on the newspaper.

Greetings Lancers Family,

Happy Mothers' Day to all the Churchill Moms. I hope your student stopped by the STEM building and picked up a couple items for you at the plant sale. If not maybe they can bring you to SpongeBob the Musical. Tonight is opening night but it runs all weekend and next so make plans to attend. It looked spectacular, just in the preview we got this week during Advisory.

Musicals are always exciting because they usually have a large cast, there are all the students in orchestra participating and then all of the sound and set folks behind the scenes making it happen. Lots of talented, talented students on display, so much fun!

Teacher Appreciation Week was a success. Thank you to those of you that brought something. I would like to send out a special thank you to Jennifer Hartley who set everything up, managed the buffet and then cleaned up. She was an absolute rock star!

Congrats to our Rachel Carson program. Thirty-six students participated in the Oregon Envirothon and the Oregon Garden, taking home 2nd place out of 86 teams!

Go, Lancers!

Justin Huntley
Interim Principal - Churchill

Join SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, Plankton, Squidward, and all the rest for this unique take on the cartoon favorite. Tickets are $7 for students and $15 for general admission. You can buy them from any CHS Thespian, the QR code on our poster, our website, or at the door. Performances are May 9, 10, 16, and 17 at 7:00 PM and May 11 and 18 at 2:00 PM. It's gonna be the BEST DAY EVER!
A bright yellow and blue poster announces "The SpongeBob Musical," presented by Churchill Thespians and West End Academy of Performing Arts. The title is prominently displayed with the Nickelodeon logo. Text below indicates it's "Based on the series by Stephen Hillenburg" and has a "Book by Kyle Jarrow." Original songs are credited to numerous artists, including Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, and others. The poster lists show dates and times in May 2025 at the Churchill High School Auditorium: May 9, 10, 16, and 17 at 7:00 PM, and May 11 and 18 at 2:00 PM. General admission is $15, and student tickets are $7. The poster also credits Christopher Mudd for Orchestral Direction, Dr. Julian Jones for Vocal Direction, J. Alex Patton for Theatrical Direction, and Adam Kelly for Choreography. A QR code is included at the bottom right. The background features bubbly underwater imagery.
A simple illustration shows two stacks of folded newsprint, rendered in shades of gray. Lines suggest columns of text on the newspaper pages.
