Geeting Lancers Family
What a heartwarming week it was to be a Churchill Lancer. Wednesday night Churchill hosted the Willamette Wolverines for a Unified basketball game under the Dome. If you have never been to a Unified Game you are certainly missing an opportunity to fill your heart and renew any doubt you may have in humanity. Unified Sports aims to break down stereotypes by empowering individuals with and without intellectual disabilities to engage through the power of sports. The Eugene Emeralds partnered with us and brought Slug-O and the exploding whale to help cheer on the athletes. The McCornack Unicycle Club put on an amazing halftime show that was absolutely awesome! It was a festive evening.

If you missed the article in the Register Guard or our social media post, please check out this story about our own Lucas Lopez and the swim team. He is an inspiration!

This weekend the Lancer Pageant will be hosting a pickleball tournament fundraiser, so warm up the paddles and come get some exercise, all for a good cause.

Go, Lancers!

Schedule Correction Requests
Wednesday, February 12 is the last day for students to submit a Schedule Correction Request Form.

After the 12th, students must meet with a counselor to request a correction. The final day to request a correction is Friday, February 14.

All students are expected to attend their scheduled classes, even if they anticipate changes to their schedule. Schedule changes may not be fulfilled in the way students expect or prefer. It is also crucial for school staff to know how to locate a student in case of an emergency.
Where can students be on their free period?
A few students may have free periods during the school day. During their free period, students must either stay in the library or leave campus. This helps us account for students and keep our hallways and campus safe for everyone.
**Important Update: Changes to Late Arrival Procedures for Students Starting February 4**
Starting February 4, the front office will no longer write late slips for students arriving after class begins. If your child is late, they should continue to enter through the front office, head straight to their classroom, and check in with the teacher for attendance. Students are considered late if they arrive in the classroom after the bell rings.

Please contact the attendance office to excuse your child’s absence or late arrival if it is due to a medical appointment, illness, or other reason allowed by Oregon law. If you believe your child was in class but marked absent or late in error, encourage them to speak with their teacher. You can also email the teacher directly to request a correction.

Reminder: If you need to pick up your child during the school day, please call the office (541-790-5100) at least 30 minutes before the pickup time. This gives us time to send a note to the student’s teacher to excuse them from class.

Attendance Office:
541-790-5112

You can find your child’s teachers in ParentVUE or use the 4J Staff Directory to contact them.

For resources and information about Oregon State Laws that apply to student attendance, visit the Oregon Department of Education’s Attendance Resources for Students, Families, and Community Members.
