STUDENT COMPUTER UPGRADE

updated: March 11, 2024

All students must upgrade their student computers to the latest version of the operating system. This upgrade is not optional.

This is a big upgrade that may take the computer several hours to complete. Please carefully follow the instructions in the quicksheet below. Do not attempt to complete this update using a cellular signal or hotspot or while you are at school. Make sure your computer is in a safe place where it can remain plugged in and will not be disturbed during the upgrade.

Do I need to do this upgrade?

  1. Click the Apple icon in the top right corner of the screen
  2. In the menu that appears, click "About This Mac"
  3. In the popup that appears, look for "macOS"
  4. If the macOS version is Ventura 13.3 or higher, you do not need to upgrade
  5. Upgrading to macOS Sonoma 14.x is still a good idea, but it is not required for this school year

The directions refer to macOS Ventura. You may see Sonoma on your computer. The instructions are the same.

DO NOT SKIP STEPS 1 – 16!
