Black History Month
Philadelphia Dentist John S. Rock became a medical doctor and attorney in 1865 and was the first African American lawyer to argue a case before the United States Supreme Court. In 1850, he was also an abolitionist and civil rights activist. In that year, 25-year-old Rock gave a speech in neighboring New Jersey where he called upon the state’s white residents to treat the “disfranchised portion of the legal tax-payers” of the state fairly by extending to them the right to vote.
Library Maker Space
Check out this month’s maker stations in the CHS Library! Make friendship bracelets, create a Stick Together picture, build with Pix Brix, paint with water on the Buddha Board, add to the jigsaw puzzle, or color at the collaborative coloring table. Remember to return or renew your books too!
Singing Valentines
Do you have a friend or significant other whom you want to show how much you care? Send them a Singing Valentine! Along with a card and some chocolate, CHS Thespians will come and sing them a song of friendship or love on Valentine’s Day. Tickets are sold at lunch by the planters until the 13th. Stop on by and take a look at our song selection.
Seussical Auditions
Auditions for CHS Thespians’ spring musical, Seussical, are after school at 4:00 in the choir room. All CHS students are welcome to audition with a one-minute audition piece of their choice. Callbacks for potential leads will be tomorrow. All who audition will be cast!

- Friday: Freshman, JV, and Varsity Boys Basketball vs. Eagle Point at Churchill at 4:30, 6:00, and 7:30; JV and Varsity Girls Basketball vs. Eagle Point at Eagle Point High School at 5:30 and 7:00, excused at 12:45; Swimming Districts at River Road Pool at 9:45.
