CHS Family Bulletin, October 14, 2022
Hello, Churchill families and students;
It is hard to believe that the first half the Trimester 1 has come and gone. The year is moving fast and we have all hopefully settled into the routine of school and learning. Teachers will be posting their mid-term grades today and mid-term grades will be mailed home next week. Please connect with your student and their teachers if you have any questions about grades; there is still a half term left of learning to do and time to bring your grade up if needed.
This next week is filled with lots of excitement as we head into Homecoming Week. Each day there will be different spirit week dress up themes (see below or daily themes), and we will end the week with a Homecoming assembly at school, a football game, and the dance on Saturday. It should be a great week filled with fun, smiling faces, and lots of Churchill Lancer spirit!
I hope you all have a restful weekend. Go Lancers!

Additional information about the movie screening:
The Office of Equity, Inclusion, and Instruction will be hosting a screening of the film I’m Not Racist…Am I? Each region will host a screening at their high school the week of October 17th-20th for students and families of that region.
This film follows a diverse group of 12 students over the course of one school year who come together for a yearlong exploration of race and racism as part of the Calhoun School’s national Deconstructing Race initiative. This film is sure to bring up a wide range of emotions and may jump-start some difficult conversations at home and in the classroom for students. While we hope that most of the discussions regarding this film take place between students and their families, we understand that topics at home often make their way to school. 4j staff will also have an opportunity to view the movie as well so they too can be aware and discuss if need be.
To maximize your screening experience, the following resources were created to help you discuss race, racism, inclusion, and belonging before and after your screening.
- Pre-Screening Prep
- I’m Not Racist… Am I? Watch Guide
- Guiding Lights for Difficult Conversations
- Practicing Difficult Dialogue Discussion Guide
