Churchill High School Weekly Newsletter

Family Bulletin header with red text, a newspaper titled 'NEWS,' and a pair of black-framed glasses resting on the newspaper.
Dear Churchill Families,

As we enter the month of May, I want to share some important context regarding the current atmosphere at our school. If you have been following the news, you likely know that our district is facing significant budget cuts. This past week, many staff members across the district received notifications regarding their positions.

I share this because it is important for our families to understand that this is an incredibly stressful time for our staff. Even for those whose roles were not directly affected, the overall impact on our professional community is heavy. We remain fully committed to our students, but we appreciate your grace and awareness as we navigate these difficult circumstances together.

The final weeks of the school year always seem to fly by faster than expected. We are asking for your partnership in helping students maintain their momentum. It is easy for students to fall into the mindset that there is still "plenty of time" to finish projects or catch up on assignments, but this often leads to work piling up until it becomes overwhelming.

We encourage you to have conversations with your students about taking care of responsibilities now rather than later. This is especially critical for our seniors who may be on the fence regarding graduation requirements.

Please take a moment this week to check your student’s grades. Even students who are typically very self-sufficient can slip during the busy spring season. Having a supportive home environment that monitors progress provides a vital safety net before it becomes too late to make corrections. If you have concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to teachers directly.

On a much brighter note, our school musical opens this coming week! We strongly encourage you to purchase tickets and attend. Our student performers put in an immense amount of work, and our productions are consistently high-quality. Even if you do not have a student in the cast, it is a wonderful way to enjoy a night out and support the arts in our school.

As always, if you have questions or concerns about the coming weeks, please reach out to our office. Thank you for your continued support of our students and staff.

Go, Lancers!
