Dear Churchill Families,
As we head into the final stretch of the school year, we have roughly eight weeks remaining, with seniors finishing in early June. This time of year can be challenging, but it is also an important opportunity to stay focused and finish strong.
I want to take a moment to celebrate an incredible Prom. It was wonderful to see so many of our students dancing, celebrating, and truly enjoying the evening. The theme was wonderful, our students looked amazing, and the joy in the room was evident—an event to remember!
I also want to recognize our students for their continued effort in following our cell phone expectations. Leadership has been consistent, and we appreciate the many students who are meeting this expectation and following state law. Your efforts are making a positive difference in our learning environment.
As we move forward, I encourage all students to stay strong, remain present, and keep going. This is a time to stay engaged in class, continue learning alongside peers and staff, and push through to the end of the year with purpose.
We will also begin OSAS state testing next week. Our School Testing Coordinator has worked closely with staff to finalize the schedule:
- IHS: April 21–23
- Science: April 27–30
- Math: May 11–12
- ELA: May 19–22
OSAS is a great opportunity for students to show what they've learned, and we appreciate your support in helping them participate. We are asking families to please not opt out of their student, as this is a no-pressure test for kids. We understand that certain circumstances, yet it would greatly help Churchill out by having students participate in OSAS.

Attention Seniors! This Tuesday during the Advisory period, we will host a mandatory senior class meeting to discuss everything you need to know for your final weeks of high school. We will cover critical logistics for the graduation ceremony, including how to secure your tickets, sign up for walking partners, and request ADA seating or interpreter services. Additionally, we’ll share updates on honors diploma deadlines, upcoming scholarships, Senior Signing Day, and cap and gown distribution. It is vital that all seniors attend to ensure they are prepared for these upcoming milestones.

Oregon high school juniors and seniors (and recent grads) are invited to help shape Open Doors Oregon, the state’s new direct admissions program. The Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) is seeking 12 students for a 7-month term to ensure the college application process is clear and accessible for everyone. Members will attend monthly virtual meetings, committing up to five hours per month, and will receive a stipend of $80 per hour. No previous leadership experience is required—just a desire to help make college access easier for future students.

Do you or your child want to learn how to ride a bike? Join 4J, Bethel, and Springfield Safe Routes to School programs, the City of Eugene, the City of Springfield, Shift Community Cycles and Cascadia Mobility for this fun event with bike checks, free helmets and information about bike share.
We’ll start with balancing and gliding without pedals or training wheels. Some will learn to pedal in one session, while others may need more practice to reach that final goal. You don’t need your own bike to participate, but please bring a helmet and bike if you have one. Eugene 4J Safe Routes to School and the City of Eugene Adaptive Recreation program invite students and families to an Adaptive Bicycle Open House on Wednesday, April 29, 4:00–6:00 p.m. at the Hilyard Community Center.
Come explore a fleet of more than 20 adaptive bicycles designed to meet a wide range of needs. Options include recumbent trikes (for one or two riders), tandems, hand cycles, off-road wheelchairs, and more. It’s a great chance to see what’s possible and try out equipment in a welcoming, low-pressure setting.
Located next to the Amazon Park Path, the Hilyard Community Center offers a safe, car-free space to test ride different bikes. (Note: there are many types of bikes available, but a limited number of smaller sizes.)
This event is ideal for students and family members with ongoing or temporary physical or developmental disabilities and differences. While traditional two-wheel bikes don’t work for everyone, there are many exciting alternatives to explore.
Adaptive bicycles are also available to rent through the City of Eugene Adaptive Recreation program.

Looking for "serious summer fun" for your student? The University of Oregon is hosting the NW Cyber Camp from July 20–24, 2026. This free program is open to Oregon students currently in grades 8–11 (rising 9th–12th graders) and is a program of the Oregon Cybersecurity Center of Excellence. Additionally, UO’s NICE Project is offering in-school field trips and customized campus tours this spring, with funding available to cover costs like buses and substitutes. Since this funding ends in June, interested families should encourage their teachers to sign up soon for these spring activities.

The Pokémon Club is hosting an exciting tournament on Saturday, April 25, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Crow High School Cafeteria. This community-run event is open to contestants ages 11–17 and features games, prizes, and more. There is a $2 entry fee for contestants (cash only), and all minors must be accompanied by an adult. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate our local teens in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment.
