Here’s some important information about the upcoming school year:

9th-Grade Orientation, September 6

Tuesday, September 6th, 9th graders will be reporting to school.  This is a day where it will just be all 9th graders at Churchill.  Just bring yourself and a water bottle. Lunch will be provided.  It will be a day filled with fun, getting to know your peers, the school, the staff, and experiencing high school for the first time.  School starts at 8:30 am and runs until 3:30 pm.  9th graders will have time to visit each of their classes, get to know the staff at CHS, and also do different activities to get to know their peers in the Class of 2027!  The staff is excited to meet you!

New Student Tours

If you are a new 10th – 12th grade at Churchill High School, there is an opportunity for you to get a tour of CHS before school starts on Sept. 7th.  Tuesday, Sept. 6th between 10 am – 11 am and 2 pm – 3 pm, there will be staff in the front office ready to take small groups of students on a tour of CHS.  If you would like to join us, please arrive either at 10 am, 10:30 am, 2 pm or 2:30 pm for a tour.  If you have questions, please contact the front office from more details.

First Day of Classes, September 7

All classes begin on September 7. This is a full school day.

Check your class schedule! It’s important for all students to check their class schedules in StudentVUE the day before classes begin. Counselors are still making changes to schedules, and your schedule may continue to change through the first week of school.

You must attend the classes on your schedule. This is an important safety step. If you are not in the right place, we might not be able to find you in an emergency. If your teacher doesn’t call your name when taking attendance, you might be in the wrong classroom. Speak up and check your schedule to make sure you’re in the right place.

Bring your student computer, some paper, and a pen or pencil. Your teachers will provide a syllabus on the first day of class that will list any special school supplies you will need for their class.

Reporting an Absence

  • Please inform the attendance office each day that your student is absent.
  • Absences need to be excused within 2 business days.
  • Pre-planned absences of three or more days may be excused if arranged in advance by filling out the pre-arranged absence form available in our front office or on our website at chs.4j.lane.edu/forms.

To excuse by 24-hour voice message: 541-790-5102
