Hello, Churchill families and students;

Happy first week of November!  It’s hard to believe we are into November already and creeping up on the end of the first trimester.  This month will fly by, and before you know it December and the start of 2nd Trimester will be here.  If you have not already, I would encourage you to reach out to your students’ teachers to check in about grades, missing assignments, and ways that you can support your students’ academic success.  I would also encourage you to talk to your student and have them show you their Canvas classes and assignments.  So many wonderful things are happening in our classes here at Churchill, and it’s always fun to hear the student’s perspective on what they are learning.

Daylight Savings happens this weekend.  Remember to “Fall back” and set your clocks back an hour on Saturday night.  I hope that you all enjoy your extra hour of sleep this weekend and as always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Club Fair Monday, 11/7 during lunch – special schedule(extended lunch)

Monday we will have the Club Fair in the gym.  We will be on an extended lunch day schedule.  This was discussed and approved in Operations on 10/5.  Each club has been working hard to get tables and information ready to share with their peers.  It will be a great time in the gym, please stop by, check out the clubs that are offered here at CHS, and mingle with our students.

CHS Fall Production – “That’s the Spirit”

CHS Thespians’ Fall Production, “That’s the Spirit”, opens this Thursday, Nov. 3rd, with show dates also on Nov 4, 5, 10, 11, and 12.

About the play – Irene Lockwood inherits the mansion of her recently murdered aunt. The catch is that it comes with a wild group of psychics determined they can catch the killer.

Join us for a hilarious evening murder mystery spoof. Curtains open at 7:00 PM in the auditorium. Tickets are $7 for students and $10 for adults and can be purchased from your friendly local CHS Thespian or at the door. See you there!

The College and Career Center needs volunteers like you!

Volunteers are needed for the Career and College Extravaganza on Wednesday, 11/9. We need help setting up, directing traffic, giving directions, monitoring rooms and food tables, and cleaning up. You’d still be able to attend information sessions as well. Win, win! Contact Sheree Houck if you can lend a hand. houck_s@4j.lane.edu.

But wait, there’s more……….. If you have a spare hour or two a week to help us, consider joining our team. Do you just love managing data and spreadsheets? We need you. Are crafts your thing? We need you too. Are you good at coordinating programs and reaching out to community members? We need a community service coordinator. Does writing make you smile? We need someone to write posts for social media, announcements, emails, etc. Need a flexible schedule? Some tasks can be done entirely remotely. But, if you want to immerse yourself in our active campus, you are welcome. Would you rather help us on an as-need basis? Yep, we always need extra hands.

Winter Sports Practices starting soon!

Winter sports start on Monday, November 14th.  Students will need to have their physical paperwork in before they can start practicing with teams.  Find out more information here at our Athletics webpage link on our Churchill High School website.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Lunches

Grad Party Planning

The Grad Party Committee is having their next meeting December 7, 6pm at Putter’s Family Entertainment Center. We’ll be located in the private room nearest the indoor play area.

We have some exciting fundraisers happening this week. November 9^th is the Papa’s Pizza Night! Print the attached flyer and 50% of the proceeds will go to the Grad Party. This flyer is good for take-out orders.

Also, our Christmas Wreath and Garland event is happening NOW! Get your orders in by November 18^th and items will be available for pickup or delivery on November 29^th. Drop off your order forms to the school office or text a picture of your order form to 541-954-8597.

LCC Advanced Technology and Apprenticeship Presents – Women in Trades

Wednesday, November 16th from 4 pm – 6 pm, LCC will host a Women in Trades night.  There will be a time to ask questions from a panel of female trades students and industry reps.  You will also have the ability to network with local companies.  This is event is FREE for all participants.  See the flyer below for more information and how to register.
