Churchill Families,

The first day of school is only a week and a half away! We hope your summer has been exciting, adventurous, and restful. Wednesday, September 6th the staff is looking forward to seeing all of our new incoming 9th grade students. It will be a day full of fun, getting to know the school, the staff, your classes, and the whole 9th grade student body, or I should say, “The Class of 2027”!!! Since this first day of school is happening on a Wednesday, we will run on our normal “Early Release” bell schedule. Students will be at Churchill from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm; buses will be running on their regular routes, so please plan accordingly.

As the new school year approaches here are a few tips to remember and strategies to start thinking about so you are ready to get back into the routine of school:

  1. Do I know where my backpack and school supplies are? (computer, charger, computer protective sleeve, school supplies, binders, pens, and pencils…)
  2. Have I updated and charged my computer for classes? (See more info. below)
  3. Have I checked my 4J Student Email recently for any unread messages regarding class schedules or materials?
  4. Do I remember my Student ID number for lunches and checking out books? If not, who can I talk to at school to find this out? (hint – the front office or counseling office.)
  5. Do I have a good place to study and do homework at home?
  6. When should I start going to sleep at night so I am ready to get up early in the morning for school?
  7. What time do I need to get up to make sure I am on time for my bus or getting to my first class?
  8. Which days are A and B days each week and do I need to calendar them out in my Student Planner or phone calendar?

The staff and I are looking forward to seeing our students back at Churchill really soon. Please enjoy the last week of summer break, and let us know if you have any questions. This is going to be a great year!!!

Go, Lancers!

Complete your online Back-to-School tasks.

All students have tasks to complete before school starts. For detailed instructions, visit the Back-to-School 2023 post on our website.

If you missed Back-to-School Days, make time next week to come to the front office to update your student profile and renew your LTD bus pass. New students and 9th graders will need to check out their school-issued computers before the first day of school.

Student Schedules

Counselors are still working on updating and adjusting classes this week. For the most part, classes have been set. Students can now see their schedules on StudentVue. If you have questions or need to make an adjustment — for example, you’re missing a class, you have an empty period that needs filling, or you don’t have both A and B sections to your yearlong classes — please fill out the Schedule Correction Request on our school website. Counselors will be processing these corrections as soon as possible so everything is ready for the first day of school on September 6 (9th graders) and September 7 (10th – 12th grade). For additional questions, please email your counselor.

Student Computer Upgrades

This upgrade is not optional. Please take some time this week to upgrade your student computer.

New students and 9th graders checked out upgraded computers at Back-to-School Days. They do not need to perform this upgrade task.

Before you start: If you haven’t been using your student computer over the summer, the computer battery may have drained, and you will need to charge it and turn it on to allow the clock to update before the operating system upgrade will work. You may need to restart the computer a few times.

Follow these instructions carefully:

This big upgrade may take several hours to complete. Do not attempt to complete this update using a cellular signal or hotspot. Make sure your computer is in a safe place where it can remain plugged in and will not be disturbed during the upgrade.

If you are unable to complete the upgrade at home, please exchange your student computer at Back-to-School Days.
