April 24–28 is Course Requests Week at Churchill. Every day, there will be an Advisory or Assembly schedule.
ALL STUDENTS: You will need to use your student computer to select your classes for next year. Remember to bring your student computer to school every day next week. It is important to attend these Advisory lessons so that you can request the classes you want to take next year.
SENIORS: Advisory lessons will be designed to help seniors navigate the end of their senior year and finalize graduation requirements. There will be a senior class meeting during the double assembly on Tuesday to talk about graduation. If you do not have a 2nd-period class, plan to join us in the cafeteria at 10:40 on Tuesday.
Please don’t put anything except the laptop in the laptop sleeves. We’ve noticed students using the outside pocket of the laptop sleeves to store their chargers. This causes the charger to press against the laptop and crack the screen. We suggest storing your charger in a separate pocket on your backpack.

Please be advised they should have a good sense of humor and a willingness to support our Senior Class? You’ve Been Flocked! will be in effect from March until June.
In May, we will be selling Mother’s Day 12” Hanging Flower Baskets. More information is forthcoming about that event. Preorder sales and on-site sales will be available.
If you would like to simply donate funds to sponsor a raffle basket, pay for prizes, or sponsor a student’s entry to the event, we would appreciate any assistance. The Graduation Night Party is a community-sponsored event. Liability is the responsibility of the organizers.
We recently collected 400 bikes from the community and at the moment we are in need of folks to help clean and fix them in preparation for our Giveaway Day, where we match the bikes with kids. There is no experience necessary to volunteer. We are running 4 refurbishment sessions a week (3 weekday evenings, and on Saturday mornings as well). This would be a great opportunity for students looking to get involved in their community, and our volunteers have lots of fun while working to help a great cause.

This is a week-long camp run by our women firefighters. It’s an impressive process that is designed to expose young women to development opportunities where the campers are exposed to things and activities that they otherwise might not have. The training is built with an abundance of caution but includes instruction in working as a team, hard skill development such as rappelling, working with tools, leadership and basic firefighting. In addition, the lunch break is scheduled with women leaders in the community that come and interact with the campers. It’s an impressive program!

Every summer yellow jackets become a safety issue for 4J students, staff, and community members; requiring hazardous nest removal, extensive labor, and occasional pesticide treatments. As a preventative measure, Facilities sets non-toxic pheromone yellow jacket traps around school grounds in early spring to reduce the number of nests that are established.
Though these traps are intrinsically safe for staff, students, and beneficial pollinators, they are considered a pesticide by ODA and we are required to send out notifications just as with other pesticide applications. All school sites are part of this program.
