Black Facts of the Day

On this day in 1944, the author Alice Walker was born.  In 1982, she became the first African American woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for fiction, which she was awarded for her novel The Color Purple.

On February 9, 1995, Bernard Anthony Harris Jr. became the first African American to walk in space.

Candy Grams

Virtual Support Group for BIPOC Teens

Tonight from 5–6:30 pm, join your peers from across the district to connect about your experiences, share frustrations, engage in stress reduction exercises, and learn coping strategies for managing stress. Reach out to your counselor for more information.

Seniors

Do you want access to 1 million dollars? Are you interested in going to Lane Community College? Lane awards over $1 million dollars in scholarship money every year and you could receive some if you apply! Come to the LCC Scholarship Workshop tomorrow between 3:30 and 5:00 pm on Zoom. Look for the yellow flyers posted around the school and scan the QR code to join.

Lancer Pageant

Support the Lancer Pageant by going to Dizzy Dean’s tomorrow. Get your flier from a campus poster, a coordinator or contestant, or a picture on your phone. A percentage of your purchase goes to support Children’s Miracle Network.

Spring Sports

Please register ASAP in Family ID for the spring sport you are interested in. You must be registered before any pre-season workouts and official practices. The official season starts February 28th so we are only 20 days away. Get involved and come out and play!

Winter One-Act Festival

CHS Thespians are proud to present the return of the Winter One-Act Festival. Join us Sunday, February 13th at 7 pm for an evening filled with short-form theatre entirely directed, produced, and acted by CHS students. Tickets are $5 at the door. Masking is required while in attendance. See you there!

Seniors

Senior baby pictures and dedications are due by February 25th to Don Squires at squires_d@4j.lane.edu. For photo and dedication parameters visit the CHS website Yearbook page.

Senior quotes are also due Feb. 25th and must be limited to 20 words or fewer. If needed, forms are available in C5.

Lacrosse

Are you looking for a spring sport? Churchill students are invited to join the South Eugene boys lacrosse team this spring. New players are encouraged to join. If interested, contact southeugenelax@gmail.com for more information.

Students

Students who wish to change to Eugene Online Academy for fully online learning for Trimester 3 need to complete the 4J Online/Onsite Learning Change Request form by Monday, February 28.  The form is located on the 4j website. Eugene Online students are eligible to attend Churchill activities and to participate on Churchill athletic teams.

Parking Tickets

Campus monitors will be ticketing vehicles that are parked on campus without a CHS parking permit. Permits are $35 and scholarships are available to students who qualify for Free and Reduced Meals. Student parking passes help us with campus security by quickly identifying which vehicles belong on campus. It also helps us find and notify the vehicle’s owner if someone witnesses a break-in or other damage.
