Black History Month Daily Fact
February 19, 1919 – Pan-African Congress, organized by W.E.B. DuBois, met at the Grand Hotel, Paris. There were 57 delegates–16 from the United States and 14 from Africa as well as others from 16 countries and colonies.
Senior artist Allison Prince’s acrylic painting was selected by a jury of professional artists to be included in an art show at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. This is quite an honor as only 33 entries were selected out of 105. Congratulations Allison!
The Lancer Pageant’s fundraiser at Panda Express is Thursday. Get a flyer or have a picture on your phone when you go to support the Lancer Pageant and Children’s Miracle Network.
LCC placement testing in Reading Comprehension and Writing is today at 3:45 pm in STEM 118. Students must have an L-number and bring a valid photo ID. See Mary Beth in the STEM office with questions.
ElRod Center — a local organization that helps support youth struggling in our society – needs volunteers to help with event advertising and registration February 22nd-24th. For more information pick up a flyer in the College and Career Center.
Coyote Outdoor School needs volunteers to lead Outdoor School activities from mid-May to early June. Volunteer for 1 to 2 programs for 3 days/2 nights or 5 days/4 nights. Pick up a flyer in the College and Career Center for more information.

Congratulations to the CHS swim team for finishing 4th at the OSAA State Championships last weekend. New school records were set in the medley and 400 free relays for boys and girls. Kylie Taylor brought home bronze in the 100 fly and gold 100 back with a new school record. Charley Page-Jones brought home gold in the 50 free and 100 fly setting school records in both. Finn Conaway finished 2nd in the 500 with a school record, Alanah Erickson finished 3rd in the 100 free, and Davis Wingard 6th in the 200 free. Great swimming for the Lancers!
