Black Fact of the Day

Barbara Jordan was an LGBTQ African American woman. She excelled as a Civil rights leader and attorney. She was the first black woman elected to the Texas Senate and the first black woman elected to Congress in Texas. She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Bill Clinton.

Seniors

The OSAC Scholarship application early bird deadline is tomorrow at 5:00 pm. All complete applications submitted by the early bird deadline are entered to win a $1000 scholarship. Remember, you can apply for multiple scholarships on one application. See the College and Career Center website or email Sheree.

Spring Sports

Please register ASAP in Family ID for the spring sport you are interested in. You must be registered before any pre-season workouts and official practices. The official season starts on February 28th.

Spring Musical Auditions

Auditions for the spring musical, The Wizard of Oz, are Tuesday, February 22 at 4 pm in the choir room. Please prepare a 60-second selection from musical theatre as your audition. Rehearsals begin February 28. Please see Mr. Patton in H8 for more details. We’re off to see the Wizard!

Seniors

Senior baby pictures and dedications are due by February 25th to Don Squires at squires_d@4j.lane.edu. For photo and dedication parameters visit the CHS website Yearbook page.

Senior quotes are also due Feb. 25th and must be limited to 20 words or fewer. If needed, forms are available in C5.

Swim

Congratulations to the girls’ swim team for their first-place finish at Districts this weekend and a third-place finish for the combined team! Six new school records were set: Lauren Larsen holds the 200 free record; Kelsey Wasikowski bettered her record in the 100 breast twice this weekend; Charley Page-Jones dropped 3 of his own records in 50 free, 100 free, and 100 fly; and Kylie Taylor took down the 200 IM record. Way to go Lancers!

Tuesday: Boys Basketball vs. North Bend: 4/5:30/7 pm: Freshman Released at 3 pm; Girls Basketball at North Bend: 5:15/6:45 pm: Release at 1 pm

Friday: Girls Basketball vs. Thurston: 5:15/6:45 pm; Boys Basketball at Thurston: 5:15/6:45 pm; Swim Team at State in Tualatin: Release all day
