Important Student Computer Upgrade
Upgrade Your Student Computer
All students need to upgrade their student computers to the latest version of the operating system. Please take some time this Winter Break to upgrade the operating system on your student computer. This is a big upgrade that may take the computer several hours to complete. Do not attempt to complete this update using a cellular signal or hotspot. Make sure your computer is in a safe place where it will not be disturbed during the upgrade. Please follow these instructions carefully: Upgrade to macOS Mojave.
Caring for School-Issued Technology during Winter Break
Winter Break is almost here. With two weeks off from classes, your student computer will need to be stored carefully to avoid damage. Remember, 4J technology guidelines do not allow students to take their school-issued computers out of the Eugene area. School computers should never travel outside of Oregon.
Your student computer and charger should be stored in a safe place, like a desk drawer, away from pets and areas of high activity.
Before returning to school please make sure your student computer is charged and ready to use. When a computer’s battery has been drained, you may see an error message saying that the clock needs to be reset. You may need to restart the computer and let it sit for 15 minutes to sync the clock. You may need to restart the computer more than once.
