Graduation at a G’Lance 11/27
Churchill Class of 2019 and Families,
We hope your Thanksgiving Break was full of warmth, joy, and rest.
In This Issue
There are a few deadlines coming up before Winter Break. The 2019 Grad Party Planning Committee could use some more help. Counselors, the College and Career Center, and the School-to-Career Office get very busy at the end of the school year. Avoid the stress by giving your support team enough time to meet with you and respond to your needs. Complete your community service, CRLS, and LEAP requirements now.
Graduation is Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at the Hult Center.

Yearbook Portraits and Senior Quotes
Senior yearbook portraits and quotes are due to Don Squires by December 14. Torso shots in portrait orientation are preferred. Quotes will be reviewed by Yearbook staff. For more information, or to make a submission, email Mr. Squires at email@example.com.
Note: Baby pictures will be due in March. More information will come later.
Order your Cap and Gown
If you missed turning in your graduation order by November 2, there is still time. Please mail your order directly to Miners Graduate Services’ office or place your order on their website at www.minersgrad.com. To avoid late order fees, the deadline to place your order has been extended to Friday, December 21st. Extra order sheets are available in the front office.
If you need to borrow a cap and gown from the school, please talk to Jill in the front office.
Some of you have received part of your order, but not your cap and gown or announcements. These items will arrive in May. Miners submits a bulk order in December to the company that makes the caps and gowns. It takes time for workers to make the gowns for the orders they receive from all over the country. Ordering in bulk directly from the factory is how Miners keeps your costs down, and the reason that the order deadline is early in the school year. Announcements are in the process of being finalized with all the correct information, and will also take time to order, print and ship to us.

Grad Party Planning
Hello, parents of seniors!
We held the first Grad Party planning meeting a few weeks ago and made some preliminary decisions. We had a good turnout but this is a large undertaking and we definitely need more help. The all-night Grad Party gives our seniors a fun send-off and finale to high school!
We would like to invite any and all of you to join us in planning this great event. There are many ways to help, including fundraising, direct donations, phone calls, gathering party items, help the night of the party, and much more.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org directly and let us know how you would like to help.

Check Your Grades
Now is a good time to check your Gradebook on StudentVUE or ParentVUE. Any class you do not pass may need to be retaken in order to fulfill your graduation requirements. Contact your counselor if you need help completing or understanding your graduation requirements.
Career Related Learning Standards Graduation Requirements
If you have not completed your Career Related Learning Standards (Naviance assignments AND interview) and/or submitted verification of community service hours, please do so now. The CRLS are overdue. Students who have not completed this graduation requirement have been receiving notes in class. Check in with the College and Career Center or your counselor if you have questions.
Notes to Seniors from the School-to-Career Office
The Lancer Extended Application Project, also known as LEAP, is a State of Oregon Department of Education Personalized Learning graduation requirement. Internships or “extended applications” are an important mechanism for providing students an opportunity to explore a career and have opportunities to apply the skills and knowledge from school into a professional setting. (www.oregon.gov/ode/learning-options/CTE/resources/Pages/Internship-Resources.aspx).
Before you get started, students must have a signed LEAP Contract on file with the School-to-Career office. Contracts are available at the School-to-Career Office in the STEM building or your counselor’s office. For more detailed information about the LEAP, go to blogs.4j.lane.edu/elam_m/leap.
