Graduation at a G’Lance 10/10

Churchill Class of 2019 and Families,

Believe it or not, it is already time to start thinking about Graduation. Churchill’s 2019 graduation ceremony is Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at the Hult Center.

There are lots of tasks to complete before we get there. To help you stay on track, I will be sending the Graduation at a G’Lance newsletter periodically throughout the school year. These newsletters will be posted at chs.4j.lane.edu/graduation along with a calendar of graduation events, and contact information to help you along the way.

Here are a few upcoming events and deadlines (yes, deadlines already!) for you to know about.

Order your Cap and Gown

Cap and Gown orders are due November 2. You can pick up an order packet in the front office, or order online at minersgrad.com On Monday and Tuesday next week, Miners Graduate Services will be in the student lounge from 10:00 through the end of lunch to help you order your cap and gown, announcements, class ring, and other class of 2019 memorabilia.

Yearbook Portraits

Senior yearbook portraits are due to Don Squires by December 14. Torso shots in portrait orientation are preferred. For more information, or to submit your portrait, email Mr. Squires at squires_d@4j.lane.edu.

Notes to Seniors from the School-to-Career Office

The Lancer Extended Application Project, also known as LEAP, is a State of Oregon Department of Education Personalized Learning graduation requirement. Internships or “extended applications” are an important mechanism for providing students an opportunity to explore a career and have opportunities to apply the skills and knowledge from school into a professional setting. (http://www.oregon.gov/ode/learning-options/CTE/resources/Pages/Internship-Resources.aspx).

Before you get started, students must have a signed LEAP Contract on file with the School-to-Career office. Contracts are available at the School-to-Career Office in the STEM building or your counselor’s office. For more detailed information about the LEAP, go to http://blogs.4j.lane.edu/elam_m/leap/.
