School-to-Career News

Students – Are you looking to get hired for the holidays and beyond? Then come to the Getting Hired for the Holidays Workshop on Monday, November 5th, in the STEM conference room. Students with a free 5th period may come at 2:30 and all other students are welcome at 3:30. Work with representatives from WorkSource Lane and learn about the job search process, resume building, and even have your resume reviewed by one of these professionals. Remember to bring a copy of your resume. No need to sign up, just show up.

Lancer Pageant

9th Graders – If you are interested in being a Lancer Pageant coordinator, come to the informational meeting at lunch on Nov. 5th & 8th in F39.

College and Military Visits

Monday, Nov. 5 – Marines at lunch in the College and Career Center

Wednesday, Nov. 7 – Southern Oregon University at lunch and Corban University at 2:15. Both in F39

Thursday, Nov. 8 – Navy at lunch in the College and Career Center

Community Service Opportunities

Community Emergency Response Team – Volunteer to be a victim for the Community Emergency Response team, Saturday, November 10th, 8:00-12:00.

Lane County Volunteer Firefighters –  Volunteers 16 years and older are needed to protect life and property through firefighting and EMS activities. Training through an 11-week academy and then volunteers will be assigned a 14-hour shift every 6th day at one of two staffed stations.

Festival of Trees – Scheduled over six days during Thanksgiving week at Valley River Inn. Volunteers are needed for set up/takedown, working in some of the children’s areas, the raffle tree, roving, & greeters/ticket takers.

Eugene Comic Con -Saturday, November 10th and Sunday, November 11th – Volunteers are needed to help kids make paper rockets for a rocket launcher and flying objects for a wind tunnel. Shifts are 4 hours but you can go early or stay late to enjoy the fun.

Today: CHS Varsity Football vs Central High School at CHS at 7 pm – Playoff Game

Saturday: State Cross Country Championships at Lane Community College – Girls: 1:45 pm, Boys: 2:20 pm; Boys Soccer at Corvallis High School in the Quarterfinals at 3 pm; Girls Soccer hosting Thurston High School in the Quarterfinals at 6 pm.  Tickets for all State Play-off games are $8 for Adults and $5 for Students. All gate receipts go directly to OSAA.
