Family Bulletin October 21, 2022

Hello, Churchill families and students;

What a fun Homecoming week!  So many students and staff dressed up each day for Spirit Week, and the Homecoming Assembly on Friday was amazing!  Thank you to the Leadership students for putting on a great assembly, and to Mr. Mudd and our band, they sounded wonderful!  The game on Friday night against Crater was such a nail-biter; what a win in overtime!!  Congratulation to Coach Miller and our football team – what a great game and a perfect way to end Homecoming week!  Now all we need to do is dance the night away at school on Saturday.

Such amazing memories were made this week, and I am so glad that I get to be a part of this great community were high school students get to laugh, smile, make memories, and enjoy their days at Churchill.  I love this time of year!

Have a great weekend!

Missy Cole
Principal, Churchill High School

School and Community Announcements

Homecoming at CHS!

Saturday night from 7:30 PM- 10 PM CHS will be hosting Homecoming at school in the Cafeteria and in the Courtyard.  There will be dancing, food trucks and lots of great music to dance the night away to.  Students need to bring their student ID to show at the door and if  you are bring a guest, they too will need ID and should enter the dance with the CHS student who is bringing them.  It will be a great night!

Open House/Lancer Night!!

This Thursday, October 27th, we will be holding our Open House/Lancer Night at school from 6 PM – 7:30 PM.  Our format will be a little different this year.  Instead of wandering your student’s schedule, you and your student will be able to choose your own adventure and meet all the staff at CHS, learn more about our CTE Pathways, get some of your AP/College Now/IB questions answered (what’s the difference?), and also hear about the amazing opportunities we have in our College and Career Center.

As with any Open House, come when you can, meet your student’s teachers, learn a little more about Churchill as a whole, and if you need to talk more in-depth with one of your student’s teachers, make an appointment with them for a later date.  There will be light refreshments and a loose “program” for those that want to learn a little more about certain things. (See below)  Teachers will be in the Gym ready to meet to you, share with you what their departments have to offer, as well as information about our great CTE Pathways.  Come join us for a great night at CHS!

News from the College and Career Center

Senior families –

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Oregon Student Aid Application (ORSAA) are now available online. The FAFSA and ORSAA are forms seniors fill out to apply for money for college. Apply early as some funds are limited. You will fill out the FAFSA OR the ORSAA. If you are not sure which to fill out, you can use a filter tool found here.

Check out our step by step guide to completing the FAFSA or ORSAA: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lWQtrF80z14-y-NTZzb-A2EcOdJPWs1N1YFw1OkPaww/edit?usp=sharing

The Oregon Promise Application is now open. The Oregon Promise is funding from the State of Oregon that helps students pay tuition at any Oregon Community College. The application is not long or time consuming, although students must fill out the FAFSA or ORSAA to be considered. We recommend that students fill out the Oregon Promise application even if going to a community college is not their first choice.  We don’t want you to miss deadlines! For more information and to apply go to: https://oregonstudentaid.gov/
