Welcome Back Video for Students

Who do I call if my student can’t come to school on their assigned day? Can they come on a different day?

No. They must attend school on their designated day. This is strictly enforced due to room size, class size, and cohort limitations. If a student misses their live day they can log in remotely and follow along in distance learning. Call the attendance line if your student is going to be absent at 541-790-5102.

What do I do if I need to pick up my student from school early?

The ideal scenario is that the student brings a parent signed note requesting a release at a specific time and with a valid reason so that we can send a dismissal note to your student’s teacher. We do not have Office TA’s this year so it is important that you send your student to school with a note. If you don’t do this ahead of time we cannot ensure that your student will be out front in time.

AS A LAST RESORT – Call the front office and tell Robin/Jill when you plan to pick your student up. They will draft a note and call for your child to arrive at the front of the school on time for your pick up.

How will I know what days my student is supposed to be on campus?

Students can see this in their Canvas dashboard. Parents also received this information through the email associated with your student’s record. Attached is a link that you can use to find out. You will need your student’s ID number.

Cohorts – All students have been assigned to one of the following:

  • Cohort 1 – Attends school in person Monday & Tuesday, Online Thursday & Friday
  • Cohort 2 – Attends school in person Thursday & Friday, Online Monday & Tuesday
  • Cohort 3 – Online Only: Student attends classes via Zoom only.

Students cannot be in 2 cohorts.

Cohorts 1 & 2 were established to balance class sizes and meet classroom size limitations.

Does my student need to bring their student laptop to school?  Do they need to bring anything else?

Students are expected to bring their fully charged school-issued device and charger to school every day. We do not have extras. We will supply charging stations for students. This means we will have available outlets. It does not mean we are providing charging cables.  Lockers are not available.

Will there be busses for students? How do I know which bus my student rides?

Busses will follow their established routes. Busses will pick up students from school after 3rd period on A days and 0 period on B days. Please check your Bus Route schedule on the district web page.

Can I send my student to campus with lunch/snacks/drinks?

Students will have a scheduled snack break. Students may bring snacks from home, but are not allowed to eat until the scheduled snack break. COVID rules dictate that the student will need to sanitize their eating space and wash their hands immediately upon finishing their snack. To alleviate a grand level of student movement and distraction, we are scheduling the snack break to maximize learning and classroom instruction time.

Is the cafeteria going to be open?

The cafeteria will not be open. Grab and go lunches will be made available to students as they leave campus, but we are not open for dining. The cafeteria space will be utilized for study hall.

Where do I drop off and pick up my student before and after school?

Drop off and pick up your student in front of the school. Do not bring your student to school on the wrong cohort day. They will be sent home.

What are the school campus hours?

We will open the doors to Campus at 8:10 am. Classes start at 8:30 am. Students are expected to walk directly to their 1st-period class. Students are not allowed to congregate in groups. They must maintain social distancing expectations and wear a mask. As soon as class ends at 12:50 pm students are expected to leave campus. The Campus closes immediately after the final bell rings (1:00 pm). If a student has an open period in their schedule it will be reassigned to study hall. No student will be allowed to “hang out” at school during Hybrid.

Does my student need a parking permit to park on campus this year? Where do they park?

We will issue permits, but will not charge for them. We are not ticketing students either.  Students will need a permit to be allowed to park. Staff will supply parking permits to students during the first week of school. We will not charge for parking this year. We will charge for parking next year.

If my student is in Band, what are they supposed to do with their instrument when not in band class?

Ask your teacher.

Is the front office going to be open if I need to come in? What are the office hours of operation?

The front office is still closed to visitors. Please feel free to reach out by email, or phone call. chs_info@4j.lane.edu. We want to make sure you have access to us. The front office is open from 8:00 am–4:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Is campus going to be “open” (students able to come and go) this year if my student has a free period?

Campus is closed. Students are not allowed to leave campus and return to school as they have in the past. This is only due to contact tracing and managing student movement.

  • Study hall – A study hall has been added to any hybrid student who had an open period on their schedule. For contact tracing purposes all students must be assigned to a location while they are on campus.
  • If you would like to arrive at school for your first scheduled class that is not study hall or if you would like to leave after your last scheduled class that is not study hall you will need to complete and return the Late Arrival/Early Release Form to have it added to your schedule.

Are students going to be expected to wear face masks and practice social distancing?

Yes. Masks are required. Students are expected to bring their own masks. If a student forgets their mask we can supply a mask. If a student refuses to wear a mask they will be asked to go home.
